Being depressed can feel like being caught in an endless winter with no hope or sign of spring or summer ever coming. It can be hard to remember a time when the sun shone and life seemed worthwhile. For some, depression has been part of their experience for as long as they can remember; whilst for others, it decends from time to time, often without warning or apparent cause.
Your depression may be caused by chemical imbalances within the brain, or as a reaction to a life situation that is difficult to cope with. Either way, it's not something you have to live with for the rest of your life.
With the right support, it's possible to develop coping strategies that help you whilst you explore and develop new ways of thinking and being. Part of this journey is to uncover the reasons for the depression. Once you've identified the cause or causes (if you don't already know about them), then you can begin to release those negative patterns and take back control of your thoughts, emotions and your life.
